Our Vision Quality Pledge for Laser Cataract Patients
The goal of Lensar Femtosecond Laser Cataract Surgery is to enhance your surgery in order to achieve the best possible visual outcome. In the event that cataract surgery does not improve your lifestyle, you may be considered for our Vision Quality Pledge. This pledge from us is to perform additional laser enhancement or astigmatic reduction surgery within the first six months of your surgery date. The types of procedures necessary are determined by your surgeon and are based upon the safety of the procedure for your eye, as well as the anticipated benefit of surgery. The decision of which type of surgery to perform, or if even to perform surgery at all, is made at the discretion of your surgeon.
Please be aware that the following procedures, devices, and/or charges are not included within the Lensar Femtosecond Laser Cataract Surgery package offered by Missouri Eye Institute and Bradford Place Surgery and Laser Center.
- YAG Laser Procedures: After modern cataract surgery with the lens implant, the back membrane of the cataract is left in place to support the lens implant. This membrane may become cloudy and cause blurred vision, and sometimes patients will have blurred vision and/or halos around lights. These problems worsen over time. Fortunately, treatment can be done with a modern YAG laser to open the cloudy capsule, which typically improves vision. Examination, surgery, facility fees, surgeon fees, and laser royalties for YAG laser procedures are NOT included in the Vision Quality Pledge, and you will be responsible for any co-pay, deductible, or coinsurance that your insurance plan does not cover.
- Punctal plugs: Punctal plugs are used sometimes for the treatment of dry eye syndrome or other medical conditions prior to or after cataract surgery. These plugs are not covered in the Lensar Femtosecond Laser Cataract Surgery package. Punctal plugs are reimbursable in full or in part by most insurance companies, but you will be responsible for payment of any fees not covered by your insurance.
- Other Medical Conditions: Any other medical condition requiring treatment by Missouri Eye Institutes, LLC, that is not directly related to the surgery, including but not limited to medical YAG laser, conjunctivitis, foreign bodies, or emergencies, is also not included in the above fees and could be submitted to your insurance.
- Eyeglasses or contact lenses: While the goal of Lensar Femtosecond Laser Cataract Surgery and Vision Quality Pledge is to reduce or eliminate your dependence upon eyeglasses or contact lenses, you may continue to feel it necessary to use them for certain activities. Fees associated with examination and purchase of eyeglasses or contact lenses are not included in any of the Lensar Femtosecond Laser Cataract Surgery fees.
