Southwest Missouri’s Leading Eye Surgeons Specializing in Corneal Transplant Surgery
Transplantation of the cornea can restore vision, reduce pain and improve the appearance of a damaged or diseased cornea. Missouri Eye Institute ophthalmic surgeons Dr. Chuck Jansen and Dr. Dan Osborn utilize only the highest quality donor eye tissue to perform the most modern corneal transplant surgeries in the Springfield, Branson and Joplin region. Also known as keratoplasty, cornea transplantation is one of the most common – and statistically most successful – transplant surgeries conducted today. No other eye surgery has so much to offer when a cornea is irreparably diseased due to ulcers, abrasions, scarring or other injuries.
What if I Need a Cornea Transplant?
If a cornea transplant has been recommended by an ophthalmologist due to disease or injury, you will be placed on a transplant list. The Eye Bank notifies our office when there is a suitable donor cornea available then the transplant surgery must occur within a short period of time, typically on an outpatient basis. When you are placed on the list you must leave phone numbers with our office so that we can reach you at all times.
