Imagine a summer of sun, water, green grass, mountains, sand—or a whirlwind vacation that takes you through all terrain—with nary a care in the world. Or at least with one less worry. Imagine your summer without glasses or contact lenses!

We can’t think of a summer vacation activity that isn’t more fun with better vision. Sports performance improves, pricey prescription lenses don’t get lost, and you’re not swapping out cheater-readers for sunglasses or distance-vision lenses.

Specifically, here are our favorite five summer activities and how they get better after LASIK or another modern vision correction procedure. Which one(s) are you looking forward to most?

  1. America’s pastime. No one needs glasses sliding down their nose on warm game days. Whether you’re catching a baseball showdown from the stands, or you’re on the mound watching the catcher’s signals, who needs to worry about keeping glasses and contacts clean?
  1. Catching fish. Baiting a hook works best when you can see exactly where that sharp barb is going! Imagine being able to do that without glasses.
  1. Putting around. The upside of golfing after vision correction is that you can correct your vision for the scorecard, the tee or the hole way, way out in the distance—or all of these! The downside? You can’t blame that double bogey on poor eyesight anymore.
  1. Tailgate parties. Let’s list all the positives of tailgating after LASIK: NO glasses slipping down your sweaty nose; NO taking off your readers to look at a friend; NO steamy lenses as you take your first bite of brat; NO walking back to the car for glasses or contact supplies you suddenly need. They all add up to a very positive experience.
  1. Watersports. Contact wearers can attest to the inconvenience and discomfort that can come with a day on or in the water. The contacts have to come out (to avoid contamination and infection), and then you’re stuck keeping track of clunky eyeglasses. Hmm, there must be some way to get away from needing either of them …

The team at Missouri Eye Institute is happy to help you determine a vision correction plan that is uniquely suited to your lifestyle, whether at the office, on the field or both.
