Laser vision correction, or laser eye surgery, broadly refers to various surgeries that will reshape the curvature of the front of the eye (the cornea) in order to improve vision. Most types of refractive errors--nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism--can be improved enough to eliminate your need for eyeglasses or contact lensesschedule consultation
The most common form of laser vision correction is laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). Its popularity is owed to the fact that it has been performed on over 30 million people worldwide and has an exceptionally long and proven track record of success. Better vision after LASIK occurs more rapidly than with other types of laser surgeries, in some cases immediately after the procedure. Because it is a well-established procedure, people can have confidence in the surgery and appreciate life-changing improvements in their vision and quality of life.
The board certified surgeons at Missouri Eye Institute have over 25 years of experience providing LASIK in Southwest Missouri. Our doctors have collectively performed the procedure tens of thousands of times and were the first practice in the region to start performing Bladeless LASIK. At the time of your evaluation and at surgery, several measurements and scans of the front surface of the eye (cornea) are taken in order to map out the curvature of your eye. These scans include:
Oculus Pentacam Topography: This system is the world’s most advanced technology for screening laser vision candidates. The scanning cameras capture very precise measurements of the curvature and thickness of the cornea. Thickness measurements are critically important in determining eligibility for the procedure.
iDesign 2.0 Refractive Studio: The iDesign process involves using wavefront analysis to measure how light moves through your eye to create what you see. This scan details the imperfections in your vision. Additionally, it scans the outside surface of your eye to measure imperfections in both curvature and elevation, and these are relayed to the laser system to precisely correct your vision at the time of your procedure. This allows for a truly customized approach to correct your vision.

"I experience overall blurriness."
Board-certified ophthalmologists of the leading eye surgery clinics in Springfield, Branson and Joplin are eager to meet with you to determine if you are a good candidate for LASIK surgery. Every patient’s health status is unique, therefore we can not determine if you are a good candidate for surgery without a thorough medical background discussion and eye examination. However, if you answer “yes” to each of these questions you may be a good candidate for LASIK:
I am at least 18 years old.
I have nearsightedness, farsightedness and/or astigmatism.
My vision has been stable, with little to no change in prescription, for the past year.
I do not have glaucoma or cataracts.
Did you answer “yes” to the questions above? Contact us today for a consultation. If you answered “no” to any of the questions you are still encouraged to give us a call as there are many options, other than LASIK, to potentially assist you with improved vision.schedule consultation
